“What was different about Kim is that instead of just addressing the acute part of my injury (knee) she took a global approach and looked beyond the knee to address the tightness in my right hip which was actually causing problems for my knee pre and post surgery. My knee is now better than it has been in the last 10 years and is completely pain free, something I thought would not be possible” - Sharon W.

“Kim Kutzner PT was exactly what I was looking for in a therapist. With her expertise, encouragement, and therapeutic interventions, I am able to participate in activities that I haven’t been able to do in years!”

- Sherrie A.

Letter from a patient: “Hi Kim, I just wanted to update you on my improvement. I finally completed my first half marathon last Saturday at the Great Potato. I finished in 1:51 min and it felt awesome. Your knowledge and attention to detail during my healing process was much appreciated. Thanks for helping me get back on my feet!
Sincerely, Lauren R.”

Kim received her Bachelor of Science in Textile Design with a Minor in Dance from University of Idaho in 1998. After her career as a full time Pilates instructor she attended physical therapy school at Idaho State University and received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2011. Kim joined Physical Therapy at Thrive, LLC in 2012. She is excited to work in an environment that combines her physical therapy skills with her vast knowledge of Pilates.

Kim completed her Pilates training and certification by Romana Kryzanowska at the International Pilates and Physical Therapy Center in Seattle in 2003. She continues learning with yearly Pilates continuing education and has completed physical therapy continuing education in manual therapy and movement re-education. She has especially enjoyed the techniques learned through her training with the Mulligan Concept, McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy and in the Sahrmann Movement Impairment Training for the pelvis and lumbar spine. Kim is also certified in Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM).

Kim enjoys treating all conditions and all types of patients. Because of her dance background, she has a special interest in treating injured dancers. She is passionate about retraining patient’s faulty movement patterns. Her detailed eye combined with excellent verbal and tactile cues helps her patients to find those “new” muscles that can be hard to find. She lives in the North End with her partner Brian and their two “boys”, Boxers Milo and Luche. Kim teaches Pilates on the side, takes dance classes, hikes, bikes and runs with her dogs. She has a creative side, so if she does have spare time she can be found drawing, painting or making jewelry.
